Challenger
By X Jones

It happened during 1986.
Found in the o-ring was a slight defect,
But when it launched it was too late to fix.
Then out flew flames the tank could not deflect.
Seventy-two seconds, the flight was quick.
Their deaths as though their fall was off a cliff.
Seven people were lost: Judith Resnik,
Michael J. Smith, plus Christa McAuliffe,
Ellison Onizuka, Dick Scobee,
Ronald McNair, and Gregory Jarvis.
An explosion as such no one could flee.
A teacher and six heroes we shall miss.
Remember mission STS-51L,
Though the tragic story is hard to tell.
